Discount

A discount is a price reduction for a product or service, usually offered in exchange for something or as an exclusive offer.

This can be an immediate purchase, higher order value, or a benefit for a returning customer. These kinds of offers are usually limited in time and must be redeemed by the buyer to get the product or service at a reduced price.

Sales discounts are also often used as a closing tactic to create a sense of urgency and prompt the purchasing decision.
