Email marketing is a practice of consistent email communication with the prospects and customers, aimed at building or nurturing relationships with them.
Unlike outbound outreach, email marketing requires double opt-in. This means the contacts you reach out to have given their consent to receive emails from you, either by providing their email addresses in exchange for some content or simply by subscribing to your newsletter.
