Luxury Interior brand

Luxury Interior brand

Selling into the luxury interiors trade isn’t a volume game.

Buyers are interior designers and architects, not procurement teams. There’s no RFP to answer – just a relationship, a portfolio, and a first impression that has to feel considered rather than mass-produced. Get the outreach wrong and you don’t just lose a reply, you damage the brand. For a company that hand-makes bespoke, made-to-order pieces for private residences, hotels, and flagship retail, a generic blast would do more harm than no outreach at all.

That was the tension this luxury interiors house had to solve. London-headquartered, with around 37 people, it needed to introduce itself to designers who had never heard of it – without the outreach ever feeling like outreach.

Foundation = a sales model built on relationships

The brand’s growth had always come from relationships and its showrooms. Designers who already knew it came to it, supported by a marketing list of roughly 15,000 subscribers built up over years. For anyone outside that existing network, outreach was effectively the company’s Commercial Director sending emails by hand, using a small early-stage prospecting tool alongside LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Excel.

That worked at a small scale. It didn’t work for what came next.

The challenge = reaching people who’d never heard of the brand

Opening a New York showroom meant the company had to introduce itself to interior designers and architects across an entire new market with zero prior relationship – and then do it again in Denver, Switzerland, Asia, and Australia. Three things stood in the way:

  1. No way to find the right people. The team would have a company name and a domain, and no way to identify which designers inside that firm to actually reach. “I only have the name of the company and the domain. Can Reply help me find contacts?”
  2. No visibility for a manager. With reps in different countries and a growing number of mailboxes, the previous tool offered no live view of what was going out – everything had to be exported to Excel to be checked.
  3. Personalization that didn’t scale. The Commercial Director could write one excellent, considered email to one designer. He couldn’t write hundreds of them, and a templated version of that email didn’t do the job for a luxury audience.

The previous provider also capped sending at 50–80 emails per inbox, which limited how fast the team could move even before personalization became the bottleneck.

The process = integrating Reply and Jason AI SDR

The Commercial Director ran the rollout personally – building every sequence, loading every list, and reading every reply himself rather than handing outreach to a rep.

#1. Consolidating tools into one place

Prospecting, sending, mailbox management, the inbox, and reporting moved out of a mix of a standalone tool, LinkedIn, and Excel and into Reply, giving the Commercial Director a single view of the entire outbound programme without needing anyone to send him a spreadsheet.

#2. Finding designers inside target firms

Using Account Lists, the team uploads a CSV of target firms – the basis of lists like its “top 100 luxury architects” list – and Reply surfaces the designers and architects inside each one. Autopilot then keeps adding newly identified designers in a given market without the list needing to be rebuilt by hand.

#3. Personalizing at scale

The Commercial Director loads Jason AI with the brand’s proof points, a written case study, and the pain points its buyers actually have. Jason then writes each email against the individual recipient – a designer working on hospitality gets the brand’s hospitality work; a designer in a different region gets projects relevant to that market. Playbooks let the team put a link to the brand’s lookbook directly into the first email rather than a follow-up, which mattered because the lookbook is the centerpiece of how the brand introduces its work.

#4. Protecting a luxury brand’s reputation

The team deliberately kept outreach to email only, judging that a considered email with a beautiful attachment lands with this audience in a way a LinkedIn connection request doesn’t. Blacklisting keeps existing clients and specific firms out of prospecting entirely, and Approval Mode lets the Commercial Director review what goes out on the sequences that matter most before it sends – both non-negotiable for a brand this sensitive about how it’s perceived.

The outcome = a global outbound engine with one person at the wheel

Nineteen months in, the company runs 28 active campaigns – one per target market or list (New York, Denver, Switzerland, Asia, Australia, Europe, plus named lists like its leading-designers and awards lists) – across 21 connected mailboxes, all still reviewed and answered personally by the Commercial Director. Reply now generates the leads the brand doesn’t already have a relationship with; the existing 15,000-subscriber marketing list continues to cover everyone it does.

The clearest evidence of what personalization is doing for the account is the contrast the Commercial Director found when he tried to shortcut it. He built two sequences from a fixed template because he wanted a link included, and ran them against the same kind of prospects Jason AI was already reaching:

My templated sequences are not personalised and not delivering the same results as I get when using Jason AI. I have a couple of sequences that I recently set up using a template which contained the link but I saw NO response from at all. So, I want to create the sequence again to the same people but using a personalised approach.

Designers have responded to the personalized outreach with exactly the kind of engagement a luxury brand needs – interest in the work itself, not just a reply for its own sake:

Lessons learned = practical takeaways

  • Personalization isn’t optional for a considered brand. A generic template can produce zero replies from exactly the audience a personalized version converts – the gap isn’t marginal, it’s the difference between a working channel and a dead one.
  • Data quality decides whether new-market expansion is even possible. Without a way to turn “a company name and a domain” into an actual list of the right people, entering a market with no existing relationships isn’t a strategy – it’s a wish.
  • A manager should be able to run this without a technical team. Consolidating list-building, sending, and reporting into one platform let a single commercial leader – not a growth team – own outreach across five-plus markets at once.

Outcomes that count

For this brand, Reply and Jason AI SDR weren’t about sending more email. They were about doing something a luxury brand can rarely do safely.

There is some sensitivity because we are a luxury brand and the perception is that luxury brands should not be selling in this way.

Showing up, unprompted, in front of people who’ve never heard of it – and having it land as a considered introduction rather than a cold pitch.  the Commercial Director said of the challenge going in. Nineteen months and 947 replies later, the brand has a repeatable way to open a new market on that same considered footing, run by one person instead of a team.
