Prospecting is the process of getting in touch with qualified leads to determine if they would be interested in your product or service.

The main goal of sales prospecting is to engage prospective customers and either evoke or uncover their need for your product or service.

This often involves proactive outreach and sales engagement tactics.

Unlike lead generation, prospecting is typically used in outbound sales and targets each prospect individually (or at least it's made to seem so by applying personalization at scale).
